Trauma

At Zen Life Counselling we specialise in trauma recovery. Trauma takes many forms. Any situation that leaves you feeling helpless and overwhelmed is traumatic.

As a trained trauma therapist, Nez has helped thousands of individuals work through their trauma and find healing.  Nez takes a holistic approach to healing trauma, understanding that trauma affects not only the mind but also the body and spirit. She uses evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, and somatic experiencing to help her clients work through their trauma and develop skills for coping and resilience. Whether you are struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, or post-traumatic stress disorder, Nez can help you find a path towards healing and a more fulfilling life.

Recovery from trauma is an individual process and will look different for every unique individual involved. Trauma recovery is a process, and it is worked through over time and with intentional steps. When we are affected by trauma, we can tend to feel unsafe. This feeling of not feeling safe can have an effect on our bodies, and in our relationships with others.

Trauma can leave you feeling helpless and struggling. The upset and the emotions that keep coming up can lead to anxiety and depression. Trauma can also contribute to feelings of numbness, disconnect and the inability to trust others.

Sometimes, recovery does not mean that there will be a complete absence of thoughts or feelings associated with the traumatic event, but rather it is the ability to rise above the event so that it is no longer in control of your emotions or your life. Recovery from trauma is a testament to the strength and persistence of the human spirit and the secret to living a life of purpose and meaning.

At Zen Life Counselling we create a space for healing trauma, and in doing so for living again. In this way you can move forward in your life experiencing more joy and happiness. It is possible to live a rewarding life by processing trauma so that it no longer affects you to the extent it once did.

Healing from trauma is a journey that requires immense strength, patience, and self-love. It's not a linear process, but with dedication and the right support, it's possible. Remember to be gentle with yourself, you deserve every bit of healing that comes your way
