Some of the biggest myths surrounding defining depression include that it is a sign of weakness, or a lack of trying, also known as simply caving in and giving up, not seeing your own potential, or your worth as an individual. At Zen Life Counselling we look at the underlying issues that contribute to your depression without judgement for deeper understanding.
Some will consider depression to be a flaw in one’s character and will encourage you to think differently, to think more positively, but when you’re in it, it is hard to overcome. There are feelings of lack of motivation, loss of interest in day-to-day living, and even extreme levels of sadness. You may find it difficult to get out of bed some days and have a loss in feeling driven or motivated, causing a low mood in energy or feeling ‘flat’ or sluggish.
You could even feel stagnant in where your life is heading and a sense of worthlessness; and sometimes there need not be an event, or an occurrence of something having have happened to trigger a bout of feelings of depression.
