Like you suddenly have a little more time to focus on life and all the beautiful things it has to offer.

So, where am I going with this?

Studies have shown that walking and talking about your feelings can increase your mood and create a more positive outlook on life.

Honestly, it’s always been a struggle for me to discuss all my raw thoughts and feelings. Generally bottling them up and letting all my concerns and worries consume my daily life. I have a bad habit of turning the subject around or diverging the conversation to focus on a friends upcoming holiday or event.

Recently, I was introduced to Walk and Talk Therapy and honestly, it’s been the best experience I’ve had in a while discussing my worries and concerns.

Defined

Walk and Talk Therapy offers a space for individuals to talk openly in an environment that they feel comfortable, such as the park or beach.

My Experience

I choose to meet my counsellor at the beach.

Why?

Because, this is a place where I feel at peace and safe.

Yes, at first, I found it hard to open-up but the beauty about Walk and Talk Therapy is that it can take place where you want (i.e. park, beach) and on your own terms.

 

Being able to walk along the water, sand between your toes, fresh sea breeze swiftly blowing in your face, watching the waves crash into the sand made it more relaxed and easier to talk about the worries and concerns that consumed my mind.

Benefits

The combination of nature, the motion of walking and/or sitting outdoors where you feel comfortable often leads to better, more open discussions, releasing those previously built up emotions and clouded thoughts.

Walk and Talk Therapy is a great way to express your emotions that otherwise would consume and cloud your mind and aspects of your daily life. Each walk and talk are unique and provides a safe, open space for individuals to feel comfortable, enabling them to express their thoughts and emotions.

At Zen Life Counselling we offer a relaxed approach to Walk and Talk Therapy which is offered to all individuals however we find children and teenagers are especially benefit through this approach to counselling.
